ESG client Keolis, operator of Nottingham’s tram network (NET), is celebrating a hat-trick of award wins for its innovative employee engagement initiative.
Following hard on the heels of success at the industry Global Light Rail Awards have come further accolades for its EmMA project, with two category wins at the prestigious Engagement Excellence Awards: Best Branding for Smaller Organisations and Most Strategic Communications for Smaller Organisations.
EmMA was the ‘persona’ created by the NET team for its employee engagement app, with a distinctive identity created and embedded throughout the whole programme to help boost acceptance and adoption. Its clever use of a relatable mascot and voice of the company, that also reinforced the business brand, and the overall quality of the strategic implementation were the factors that impressed the judges.
NET’s Director and General Manager Paul Robinson explained: “These awards are great news and it’s a real boost to see the work put into developing the app recognised not only by the leading figures in our own industry, but by those championing engagement excellence.
“EmMA has proved to be a huge hit, with over three quarters of our staff downloading the app in the first month following its launch. Not only has it helped us communicate more quickly with a large portion of the workforce that is rarely at a desk, it’s also helped us deal more effectively with the administration of employee benefits and annual leave. Engaging with and understanding our workforce plays a crucial role in ensuring we continue to provide Nottingham with a world-class tram system. With ESG’s continued involvement, we’re already working on making EmMA an even richer, more enabling and effective asset as we drive engagement through the organisation.”
John Porter, ESG’s Commercial Director, added: “We’re delighted to see such an innovative use of our Employee Engage app get peer group recognition. It’s been an exciting and fruitful collaboration from day one, one that has made a measurable impact on the business, and shows just what’s possible when you align creative thinking with enabling tech.”
